Founded in 1972 by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Organization of Women (NOW) in response to a series of rapes, this group of lawyers, health professionals, and activists believed victims of sexual assault should have expert assistance directly following the commission of the crime. That’s why D2L exists – to empower adults through awareness and educational programs to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to childhood sexual abuse.Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center works with individuals and communities through comprehensive services and education to create a culture of intolerance for sexual violence and an atmosphere of healing for those impacted by it.There is a 24 hour/7 days a week crisis hotline (269-385-3587).The YWCA also has Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) on call, ready to report to the YWCA if a SANE exam is needed (free of charge), with supportive staff or volunteers there to assist and support the survivor.
